“Paradis Artificiel” – “Artificial Paradise” by the artist duo Flutura Preka and Besnik Haxhillari (The Two Gullivers). A series of colored pencil drawings within the framework of a broader project called “Picturing Performance”, which consists of exploring the images and material traces of the performances they have realized since the late 90s through the language of painting and drawing. The memory, image, and visual trace of the performance are reactivated again through the presentation of the action and performative action, using in most cases artificial flowers that, due to the plastic treatment, seem to be natural, fresh. Later, the concept of The Two Gullivers was expanded with drawings of natural flowers which, according to them, also transport us to an elusive and ARTIFICIAL paradise. THE TWO GULLIVERS, Flutura Preka and Besnik Haxhillari, have been working and creating together as an artistic duo since 1998 under the artistic pseudonym The Two Gullivers and are dedicated to performance art in an interdisciplinary context.
